What Scott Snyder Said at NYCC – The Wake Is About To 'Change Gears' and He's 'Completely Committed' to American Vampire

Scott Snyder was signing and interviewing heavily at New York Comic Con, and fans couldn't have been happier with that, but in case you missed it, his big push, as he announced in the Vertigo Defy panel at the Con, is to clarify that there are some big transitions happening in The Wake right now for he and Sean Murphy, and also that American Vampire is his top priority alongside Rafael Albuquerque. You can find completely coverage of the Vertigo Defy panel here, and here's what he had to say:

scott_snyder_576Snyder: [The Wake] "unlocks the secrets of human evolution".

Snyder:  "Issue #5 is the big turning point of the series",  "The second half of the book jumps in time to an almost fairy tale like version of post-apocalyptic America".

Snynder: "The story changes gears entirely", "It's really two books completely different in tone. All the teasers about Neanderthals and Outer Space in the first half will culminate in a story about a girl and her sonic dolphin".

Snyder: "The book's about wonder and also terror, moving from claustrophobia to wonder in the second half. It's really about discovering the mysteries of language coming up from the deep and explains to us why we feel so lost and why we feel so at home at times".

Concerning American Vampire, he said:

Snyder: "This new arc of American Vampire has a bit of Straw Dogs, and even of Wizard of Oz in it".

Snyder: "There's no higher priority for me at DC than American Vampire ever. We are completely committed to bringing this back and making it the best thing it can be from here forward".
