Will Marvel Cancel, or Relaunch, Immortal Hulk in November?!

Marvel's September solicitations are extremely heavy on the Immortal Hulk, one of Marvel's most successful recent comics, regularly outselling Batman as we've noted several times. In addition to Immortal Hulk variant covers running across several titles, the month features the Hulk in the True Believers reprint line, features two more Directors Cut versions of Immortal Hulk, and two regular issues.

But the solicits for those issues feel a bit… well, the opposite of Immortal.

WRAPAROUND VARIANT COVER BY JOE BENNETT

• …including the IMMORTAL HULK.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Lots of talk of final confrontations and repercussions of choices… And a quick look at Amazon's solicitation for the fifth trade paperback of Immortal Hulk deviates from the usual 5-issue collection, with just four issues, ending with Immortal Hulk #24… but also featuring something labeled "TBD."

It's the final showdown – Bruce Banner versus General Fortean, a man willing to do whatever it takes to destroy the Immortal Hulk once and for all, even if it means turning himself into what he hates the most. As Shadow Base declares war on anyone with a gamma mutation, Banner has to decide what kind of Hulk he wants to be – and what kind of monster he has to become.

COLLECTING: IMMORTAL HULK 21-24, TBD

Perhaps a final one-shot in November to close out the series? But why would Marvel end one of its best-selling books? Unless, of course, it's not the end, but a new beginning. A relaunch? An event? Perhaps San Diego Comic-Con will shed more light on the matter.
