Steve Wacker is quoted as saying "I let Gerry know where Zeb was leaving the character, and he sent a pitch into me at 6AM. I read it in bed. It was approved by 6:15. Fastest approval I've ever given. He nailed not only the adventure, super hero stuff, but he nailed what it would be like emotionally for a teen to get these powers. Not easy to do."
