Twitch Has Already Gotten The Affiliates Party Started
Social media platform Twitch announced their new Affiliates program last week. The program would allow non-partnered streamers to make revenue through donations to their channels. Today, head of Twitch PR Chase confirmed that the Affiliate Program went live today and that invitations are rolling out as we speak.
Which is awesome news for popular streamers looking to make their streaming a bit more of a job than an incredibly time-consuming hobby. As for that round of invitations, according to the Twitch blog, "The first batch of invitations is going out today for streamers who met the criteria to join the Affiliate Program. More invitations will be sent gradually over the next several weeks, so please be patient! We will update you on @Twitch to let you know when a new batch goes out. New invites will continue to go out on a rolling basis as additional streamers qualify for the program."
The first way for Affiliated streamers to earn income will be through "Cheering with Bits" with other programs to be added later. There's also a sale going on Bits now for first time buyers hoping to spread some love to their favorite streamers. You can read up on the announcement from last week or go watch the Cosmos stream which also started today.
