Amazon Briefly Lists Possible Fallout 76 Release Date
An Amazon listing for Bethesda's Fallout 76 briefly sported a July release date a few days ago, prompting speculation that the game could come out next month.
Fallout 76 was announced last week to a lot of surprise. Before the reveal, no one expected that there'd be a new Fallout on the horizon, especially one rumoured to be out this year. Ever since the game has been made public, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the title with many rumouring that the game will be some kind of online survival game.
Well, now we have something else to throw on the speculation fire. As spotted by Massively OP (via VG247), Amazon briefly had a more specific date than the placeholder December 31, 2017. Before it was changed, the game sported a July 31, 2017 release date, which would make the game's arrival very soon. While this looks like it could be another placeholder, giving this credence, that is a Tuesday, a day when it is not uncommon for games to release. The date has now been returned to its original placeholder.
Bethesda like to give surprises at E3, such as when they announced Fallout 4 the same year of release so there is a precedent for this. I don't think it is at all impossible that the publisher would reveal the game and release it just under two months later. At the same time, this could just be a mistake on Amazon's part. As I said, the expectation is the game will land before the end of the fiscal year, but for confirmation, we are going to have to wait just a few days until Bethesda's press conference to find out.
