Bethesda Softworks Let Us Try Out Rage 2 At PAX East 2019
One of the fun little off-site surprises we got at PAX East this year was Bethesda Softworks showing off Rage 2 in a hotel comedy club, which we gladly played! This particular demo was set on a 20-minute timer, so we basically had to jump in and go with what we had, which was a sheet showing us the controls and little else. We were already in a small environment with a vehicle, which I could tell didn't allow us to go very far into the world, just in a circle. That allowed us to do a few things like take on some assignments in our game or go chase down some morons driving around in a pack shooting at stuff. I did a mixture of both, but honestly, the solo missions were better.
Driving around was no fun because I couldn't take many people out and I couldn't fully catch up to the pack. And when I did, they just respawned new people. It felt pointless. So instead we raided a couple rival camps and THIS is where things picked up for us. We burst in, took what we wanted, shot up the enemies, showed off our awesome abilities when we had the chance to, collected cash, and walked around like a boss after. It was everything I expected from a Rage game and more as it was cleaner than the last, flowed better and performed faster. I couldn't complain beyond the fact that once it got good and I found my groove, the time was up. We hope to play more soon as Rage 2 will be released on May 14th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
