Blizzard Loses 209 Employees As Part Of Activision Blizzard Layoffs

As we enter the weekend, we now officially know that Blizzard itself will be losing over 200 employees as part of the Activision Blizzard restructuring. 209 in total across all areas of the company and in multiple locations including Irvine, Santa Monica, Burbank, New York City, Austin, and Bloomington. Variety obtained documentation from the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state of California by Blizzard, which shows that employees were only given 60 days of compensation and benefits, and none of those laid off were a part of unions.

While no one department was saved from the turmoil, it appears IT, Marketing, and Live Experiences lost the most employees of all departments. Hopefully, these people are able to find jobs and land on their feet soon, as many in the industry have been posting job openings on Twitter and offering help to get those affected get situated if hired.
