Capcom Reps Say Resident Evil 2 Isn't Just a Remake
In case you're wondering what Capcom thinks of people calling the 2019 release of Resident Evil 2 a remake, the answer is the company disagrees. In a recent interview with GamingBolt, Capcom's Brand Manager, Mike Lunn, went into details with them about the game and the way they envision it. According to Lunn, there are a few reasons why you can't call this new version a remake.
"It won't be faithful one to one," Lunn told GamingBolt when we asked him about what the nature of the upcoming remake is going to be. "For someone that's played the game, some people played it once and some people played it a thousand times because it's their favourite game. For the people that have even played it a thousand times, we wanted it to feel fresh. That's why we don't call it Resident Evil 2 Remake. It's a new game built on top of the foundation."
This actually makes sense, as we noted in our playthrough at E3, this version of Resident Evil 2 had a few changes up its sleeve — such as having no encounter with a dog through the window and more zombie cops popping up where we'd never seen them before. So, word to the wise, this is simply a new version of an old friend.
