Deadly Premonition Is Back… As A Board Game
Deadly Premonition is back, as a board game. Sure, it was a bit of a fringe hit, but quite a few gamers enjoyed the absurd humor, noir aesthetic, and Twin Peaks vibe of the game. It seems like the developers believe enough people enjoyed the Clue-style video game enough to warrant a Kickstarter campaign for a board game version of Deadly Premonition.
The announcement came as a bizarre email with a subject line asking "what do you see in the coffee?" which linked to spooky teaser which includes a series of case files, dim lighting, and a cup of coffee. If the hype is to be believed, that is one important cup of coffee.
There is also another video for the board game adaptation featuring developer Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro in which he expresses his love for fans while jumping up and down on a trampoline and poses dramatically with a stuffed monkey. Oh right, and also teases the Kickstarter campaign.
While the Kickstarter has yet to go live, you can check out the official website for the board game version, which teases "a game of innocence, incrimination, and murder." And includes a countdown clock. Based on that clock, it looks like we'll be seeing the official Kickstarter kick off later today.
The original Deadly Premonition was released in 2010, but it has maintained a cult following in the years since. The teaser video with Hidetaka Suehiro is below.
