Ed Boon Debunks The Cost Of Skins in Mortal Kombat 11
One of the more ridiculous stories to come out this week is that it would cost you over $6,400 to buy all of the skins in Mortal Kombat 11. Which anyone with two cents in their head would realize it doesn't make a lick of sense because the skins in the game are not for sale, so how anyone came up with that number is beyond us. Hence, why we didn't report it. Now, less than 24 hours after a bunch of media outlets ran with it, series co-creator Ed Boon has jumped in to confirm that the report is utter nonsense. Or as he put it…
For a more specific clarification, all the skins and any additions to characters have to be earned in the game through playing story mode, beating the trials, going through towers, exploring The Krypt, etc. Anyone covering the story as truth also failed to cite how they came to those prices or show a storefront where you could purchase them in the game. Sure, you can purchase Time Krystals if you want to unlock stuff faster, but it's not a requirement in order to unlock things from the game, it's an option. But if you ever need a measuring stick as to what outlets actually play the games they report on, this Mortal Kombat 11 story is a pretty good one.
