Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Gets A Gameplay Trailer

morrowindfullbleed

Bethesda's Morrwind expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online got a gameplay trailer this morning. While the cinematic trailer and the Super Bowl spot gave us the hype needed to be excited about the expansion, there's something much more comfortable about having the gameplay footage. Sure, it's still dramatic with quick cuts and long panning character shots, but those flashes of gameplay have done quite a bit to ground the trailer.

There's nothing that says Elder Scrolls quite like the first-person view with floating arms that don't look like they'd be connected to an actual person. There's just something too smooth about it.

The trailer shows off some familiar sights so it looks like we'll be revisiting some of the places we know and love from the third single-player game in the franchise, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. I'm pretty excited for this expansion since Morrowind was always one of my favorite games to play, I've lost probably years of my life to replaying that game.

The trailer ends with the four player characters we've seen running around Vvardenfell meeting up with Vivec in his home city. From what we know of the expansion, Vivec will be your primary NPC quest-giver and maybe companion throughout the Morrowind storyline. Players will also be able to go to Vvardenfell without needing to complete the full main story in the base game, which is pretty nice for players who just want to return to Morrowind.

You can watch the Cinematic trailer here and the Super Bowl spot here. The Homestead update we talked about a few weeks back is now live, so go make yourself at home while you wait for the expansion.

The Elder Scrolls Online twitter account made the announcement earlier this morning.
