For Queen & Zombies: We Try Out Ghoul Britannia at PAX East 2019
Binary Space brought in a brand new game to PAX East that will get political fans and zombie lovers rolling as we tried Ghoul Britannia: Land of Hope and Gorey. The game is a click-and-point adventure where you're a mechanic in the U.K. after Brittian finally achieved Brexit, only in this version they use technology to bring back the dead and make them do all the work of lower-class people. One day, plans go awry, and now the undead walk around a country that shut itself off. It's your job to survive in what is essentially a quarantined hellscape filled with zombies.
The demo we tried out is a little slow, as the devs make sure you examine everything about what's happening around you. You can gather resources to do jobs as you're one of the few people with skills that can help out in a crisis, but you're also dealing with politics and army regulations as safe zones have been locked down and everyone is paranoid as hell. I quite enjoyed the story and the gameplay, but it kinda drags out, which is fair since we played the start of the game. Ghoul Britannia is set to be released sometime in 2019, we're guessing we won't hear about a date until PAX West.
