For Honor's Single Player Will Still Require An Internet Connection
For Honor, based on everything I've played of it, is a fascinating game. It's melee combat system is not entirely new, but it's easily the biggest exploration of these ideas to ever come to market.
If you don't have a stable internet connection you might not be able to explore any of them though, not even in the single player campaign. Speaking to PCGamesN, a Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed this saying:
We can confirm that For Honor is an always online experience. Some elements of progression, which is hosted online, are shared across story and multiplayer modes. Players will need to be connected to the Internet at all times to play For Honor.
This is becoming more and more common, but the real issue here is For Honor at one point advertised an 'offline campaign' on Steam and Uplay as a selling point. I'm sure the number who pre-ordered off that is miniscule, especially if they were buying off Steam or Uplay, but still, it might well be a disappointment for some fans. This is game development though, and things change all the time. Better to learn now, months away from release, than on launch day.
