Mega Lopunny Raid Guide For Pokémon GO Players: March 2022

It may not yet be Easter Time, but Pokémon GO is already getting its bunny ears out. Mega Lopunny returns to Mega Raids tomorrow as a herald for spring, and you will be able to battle this dual Normal/Fighting-type soon. With this Raid Guide, you can prepare a team to take on Mega Lopunny, earn your own Mega Lopunny Energy, and potentially even catch a Shiny Lopunny.

Top Mega Lopunny Counters

Pokebattler, which calculates all possible combinations of Pokémon and moves, lists the top 10 Mega Lopunny counters as such:

  • Shadow Mewtwo (Confusion, Psystrike)
  • Mewtwo (Confusion, Psystrike)
  • Hoopa Unbound (Confusion, Psychic)
  • Shadow Metagross (Zen Headbutt, Psychic)
  • Shadow Moltres (Wing Attack, Sky Attack)
  • Shadow Alakazam (Psycho Cut, Psychic)
  • Hoopa Confined (Confusion, Psychic)
  • Apex Shadow Lugia (Extrasensory, Aeroblast+)
  • Shadow Ho-Oh (Flying-type Hidden Power, Brave Bird)
  • Mega Pidgeot (Gust, Brave Bird)

It is recommended to power up your counters as much as possible, but creating that amount of strong Shadow Pokémon with their moves unlocked is a tall order for even the most practiced players. Here are ten additional non-Shadow and non-Mega counters that can help take down Mega Lopunny with efficiency.

  • Latios (Zen Headbutt, Psychic)
  • Conkeldurr (Counter, Dynamic Punch)
  • Moltres (Wing Attack, Sky Attack)
  • Lucario (Counter, Aura Sphere)
  • Metagross (Zen Headbutt, Psychic)
  • Terrakion (Zen Headbutt, Sacred Sword)
  • Gardevoir (Confusion, Psychic)
  • Machamp (Counter, Dynamic Punch)
  • Alakazam (Confusion, Psystrike)
  • Espeon (Confusion, Psychic)

How Many Trainers Are Needed?

Mega Lopunny will take three trainers minimum to take it down. If you cannot guarantee the top counters with maxed-out CP and the best moves, your best bet is to make sure you have four or more players.

Using the Circle Lock Technique to guarantee Great or Excellent throws, along with Golden Razz Berries, is the best way to catch Pokémon. However, since Lopunny is an evolved form, I would attempt Pinap Berries on my first few throws in order to attempt catching Lopunny with increased Candy.

Shiny Odds

Mega-capable Pokémon have a Shiny rate of approximately one in 60.

Happy raiding, fellow trainers!
