Not Surprising, Sony Won't Allow "Wargroove" Crossplay On PS4

Chucklefish are preparing to bring Wargroove over to the PS4 soon, and while we wait for a release date, the idea of doing crossplay has been killed again. Yesterday the developers released a new blog post, updating fans on the progress of the game and what to expect from this version. It's pretty short and to the point about what they're doing, but it came with one specific caveat that will sadden people, as Sony straight up denied them the ability to do crossplay with other consoles.

We wanted to ensure as much parity as possible between all the different platform versions of Wargroove, so the PS4 version has the exact same content as all the other versions, aside from cross-platform multiplayer which unfortunately will not be supported. Players can however still download community-made map designs and content share between platforms, including PS4!

The news shouldn't come as a shock to anyone since, according to SiliconEra, the company was flat-out told no by Sony back in February 2019. It's a shame as the game is really awesome and deserves to have the widest audience possible. But it looks like the competition between rivals has thwarted another indie title from being able to have one giant audience playing on whatever console they choose with their friends. Maybe somewhere down the road Sony will change their minds and lighten things up? … Yeah, probably not. But at least one thing is for certain, whenever they do their next State Of Play video, we'll probably get the official release date for Wargroove.
