'Overwatch' Will Now Demote You After Loses At All Rankings
Well, that'll be sure to anger a great many players. Overwatch's next season is just around the corner, and in a move that will probably piss off the majority of competitive players, this season will affect your rank and status in a new way. From now on when you lose a match, your rank will be lowered along with your SP, meaning if you dip below the marker for achieving a certain rank, you will be demoted. Up until now, that risk only carried with higher ranked players, as anyone who managed to get to Gold kind of plateaued and never went lower than Gold if they lost dozens of matches. Now that system will affect people at the Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels as well.
The short version of what this means for Overwatch players, in general, is that in order to stay on top, you need to be a top player and you can't just pose as one because you managed to score a Gold rank along the way. In one sense, you'll be seeing people's true ranking after they take a number of losses on the chin. In another sense, you'll be seeing a lot of rage when skilled players take a lot of losses and it shows up on their record.
