PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Infographic Says The Game Has Sold Over 26 Million Copies

PUBG Corp. has put out an infographic showing off a whole load of stats regarding PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, including the game's current sales tally.

It's not exactly a bold statement to say that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has done well for itself. The game really took over last year, becoming a real phenomenon in a way most games just never quite are. Seemingly everyone has played, streamed or watched someone else stream the game by now, and it really has become a juggernaut in the industry. Coming from basically nowhere too, that really is rare.

To show off just how insane the game has done and how big the title is, the developer has put out an infographic with some key (and not so key) numbers attached. Perhaps the most important is the number of copies sold, which is now at over 26 million. That's a whole lot of copies in less than a year, almost unheard of numbers even. Another interesting stat is that the game has been played for over 3 billion hours. To really blow your mind, that's nearly double the time modern man has existed.

There are less important but fun statistics too, such as the amount of frying pan kills the game has seen as well as a breakdown of the most popular weapons and vehicles. You can check out the infographic in this tweet from the game's official twitter:

The success of PUBG is bound to have industry reaching influence. We are already seeing more and more jump onto the 'battle royale' genre, but even broader than that, I expect more games to look at the pace and design aspects of the game and consider how to bring new spins to existing titles. If PUBG did anything, it showed a game can breathe and doesn't need fast-paced, constant action to attract an audience. It's going to be interesting to watch the game's tendrils of influence spread throughout the industry.
