Russian MPs Call For FIFA 17 To Be Banned Because Of 'Gay Propaganda'
Back in November, EA added a free kit into FIFA 17's Ultimate Team mode for players who wanted it. It was in support of Rainbow Laces, a pro-LGBT movement about making sport more accepting to other sexual orientations.
It was seemingly landed the game into some hot water in Russia though. The Guardian report that communist MPs gave a letter regarding the kit to communications oversight and state consumer protection agencies. That letter was to complain about how the kit is 'gay propaganda'. Promoting LGBT relationships is a big no in the counrty thanks to a infamous 2013 law.
MP and gold medal figure skater Irina Rodnina told newspaper IzvestiaI that those in charge should "verify the possibility of distributing this game on the territory of the Russian Federation", essentially questioning if the game should be banned.
It should be noted, this kit is no longer attainable,
Seeing how EA respond to this will be key. This is a very tough position to be in and seeing their official stance on this will be important. We'll keep you up to date on this story.
