Twitch Reveals E3 "ESports Arena" Tournament Plans
For the past few weeks, we've been wondering just what YouTube and Twitch have had in mind for E3. Well, today Twitch came out swinging first as they revealed the schedule for their entire Twitch ESports Arena, which will be presented by T-Mobile and broadcast live on Twitch's special eSports channel.
A new set of tournaments will be happening across all three days of E3, featuring new players every round for Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Injustice 2, and Overwatch. Any T-Mobile customers visiting the convention who drop by the arena will have exclusive access to a VIP magenta seating area near the games.
A short list of notable eSports names who will be taking part in the tournaments are: Punk, Snake Eyez, Smug, NYChrisG, Bronson, Anakin, P Ling, Brawlpro, Noble Dragon, Pig of the Hut, and BioHazard.
All of the fighting tournaments will be eight-player double elimination, while Team Exhibition will be two teams of four who will send out a player until they score a certain amount of points to win. As for Overwatch, Thursday night they will reveal the members for the U.S. team in the Overwatch World Cup, then they'll have a four-game match against Team Canada.
