Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Reveals Seven Characters Through Voice Casting

We now have a slightly clearer picture about the characters for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox due to some voice casting choices and leaked info. Gematsu got the scoop on the voice casting after translating the latest issues of Dengeki PlayStation, as we're introduced to seven new characters: Adol (voiced by Yuki Kaji), Dogi (voiced by Kenta Miyake), Hawk (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa), White Cat (voiced by Mikako Komatsu), Puppet (voiced by Aina Suzuki), Bull (voiced by Ayane Sakura), and Apostate (voiced by Hiro Shimono). On top of that, have three character bios, which we have for you here, showing that this is truly going to be a band of misfits in what has been teased as being a total prison-like city. Enjoy reading as Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be released in Japan on September 24th, with North American and European versions yet to be announced by Falcom.

Bull (CV: Ayane Sakura)

Combat style: War hammer
The pink-haired person with an upbeat personality, and is the moodmaker of the group. Bull is not only strong but also has cute points. As you might expect, her attacks lack speed, but by swinging her war hammer around they are able to attack enemies all around them. Her Monstrum ability is called "Valkyrie Hammer", where she charges her power to break down walls in order to progress. Breakable walls are shown in an easy to understand manner. Her ability can also be used to break enemy guard as well.

Puppet (CV: Aina Suzuki)

Combat style: Sweep sword & Wired Sickle
The Monstrum wearing a white hat. One important point to note about her is whether she's a puppet or a Monstrum is a secret. With her weapon she can cover a wide range and deal consecutive attacks. Her running animation is a roller dash that makes for fun movement regardless of elevation differences. Her Monstrum ability is "The Third Eye", which makes usually unviewable things viewable, such as switches and treasure. It works regardless of elevation differences. One downside is that "you might see too much".

Apostate (CV: Hiro Shimono)

The Monstrum who appears at the very bottom of the new box art. While many expected him to be a woman, he is actually a man—a young adult. He wields a staff, but fights using a shooting-type style. His supernatural ability is "Shadow Dive," which lets him turn into a shadow and slip through thin crevices, hide from enemies, and the like.
