How Did A Trip From LA To Oakland To See A Toronto Baseball Team Turn Into A Washington Winery?
So how much do you have to love a character you are playing that when an opportunity comes up to create your own winery, you use that character as inspiration? That's exactly what Stephen Amell did. When he and Andrew Harding, who owns and operates his own music technology company, traveled from Los Angeles to Oakland to watch a Blue Jays game, Andrew was able to talk Stephen into a quick wine-tasting trip that ended up lasting 48-hours and birthed a joint venture between the two… Nocking Point Wines.
A nocking point is roughly the place on the string where you fit an arrow for shooting. Now to kick off their business, they bought a 3.5 acre vineyard in Walla Walla, Washington (consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah) and hit up an unknown artist friend of Stephen's named Jim Lee to create a logo…
So far the company has produced five wines starting with a Vigilante red which is sold out. These were followed by an Apex rose and a Maja white both available to their wine club only. And upcoming they have Wicked Aim an true Cabernet Sauvignon and their newest offering, Vertigo a red blended of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
