[SPOILERS] Taika Waititi Talks Alternate After-Credits Scenes In Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel has become known for their mid and post-credits scenes in their movies. It's an easy way to tease the next movie and do a little bit of world-building in the process. Most of the Marvel movies now have two, and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi spoke to Collider about an alternate after-credits scene. To talk about them requires a spoiler warning, so you've been warned.

There were two after-credits scenes in Thor: Ragnarok. The first one has been confirmed to have Thanos's ship casting a large shadow over Thor and Loki's ship carrying the Asgardians. The second involves the Grandmaster trying to convince the people that just rebelled against him that they shouldn't take him down. It ends with a cut to black before we see what happened. Waititi talks about the two scenes and how the there is an alternate version of the one with the Grandmaster.

[SPOILERS] Taika Waititi Talks Alternate After-Credits Scenes In Thor: Ragnarok

"We were determined to not have too many of them. The thing [with Loki and Thor], that was the thing we did in reshoots. It was a last minute decision. And the other thing at the end, with The Grandmaster, was something we shot on Gold Coast that was something I planned for a long time. It was either going to be that or it was going to be Topaz and Grandmaster stowing away on the ship at the end."

The scene wasn't something that was thought about, it was actually shot, and it's something that Waititi is thinking could be on the home release.

"That could be on the DVD in the deleted scenes, those two in the crowd of the Asgardians and he pushes through and goes, 'I've never heard of this Earth place but… We got to keep a low profile.' And they kind of put these blankets over their heads and disband into the crowd."

The Grandmaster on Earth would be an interesting idea, considering who he is in the comics.

Summary: Imprisoned, the mighty Thor finds himself in a lethal gladiatorial contest against the Hulk, his former ally. Thor must fight for survival and race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home and the Asgardian civilization.

Thor: Ragnarok, directed by Taika Waititi, stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Idris Elba, and Mark Ruffalo. Check it out in theaters now.
