Angela Bassett Joins Black Panther Cast as Panther's Mom
According to an announcement on Marvel's website, award winning actress Angela Bassett has been cast as Ramonda, the mother of T'Challa, in Marvel's upcoming Black Panther movie. Bassett, 58, is the star of such films as What's Love Got To Do With It, Waiting to Exhale, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Akeelah and the Bee, and others, or, as Marvel noted solely in their announcement, American Horror Story.

Directed by Ryan Coogler ("Fruitvale Station," "Creed"), "Black Panther" stars Chadwick Boseman in the title role alongside Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba. The film arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.
