Chris Evans Defends Comic Films Again On Podcast Interview

Chris Evans is no stranger to having to defend comic book films. After Martin Scorsese compared the Marvel films specifically to theme parks and saying that they are not cinema, many protested, including Evans and his fellow MCU brethren. Captain America himself speaks and people listen, and Chris Evans went on the new episode of The Hollywood Reporter Awards Chatter podcast to discuss a bunch of different subjects, and unfortunately, this subject came up yet again. And yet again, just like Captain America himself would, Chris Evans came to the rescue. You can read his quotes below.

We Don't Deserve Chris Evans

"It's a testament to those movies based on the caliber that they attract. I mean listen, big-budget movies with big paychecks are always available, and some of these actors don't touch them. To get the people they get at Marvel shows what goes into it, that it is more than just a theme park ride. It really, really is. We may be a little bit too accustomed to the structure now, but I really do think they stand apart. And the caliber of talent they attract is a testament to that."

Are there better ambassadors for this genre than Chris Evans, RDJ, and the rest of the MCU? Their level of fan engagement and belief in the genre is half the reason for the success of Marvel Studios in the first place. Think about all that had to go right for the MCU to be a success for a second, all of the different stars that had to align. It is crazy that it all came together like it did. People like Scorsese trying to tear it down like he attempted to do is sad and childish. Everyone accepts entertainment in different ways, and just because you don't find value in it doesn't mean others don't. Christ Evans understands that, and the rest of us should as well.
