David Hasselhoff Says He Supports James Gunn
The entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy including Kurt Russell have thrown their support behind director James Gunn. Gunn was fired two weeks ago when some old tweets resurfaced where he had made some very tasteless jokes. Disney responded almost immediately by completely severing their relationship with Gunn despite the fact that these tweets were not new information. Gunn had previously apologized for them, and his past making crass jokes was even a topic of conversation when he was originally hired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy.
Another big name has thrown their hat in the ring in support of Gunn, and that is David Hasselhoff tweeted Gunn a "happy birthday" yesterday and also said that he supports the director.
Hasselhoff had a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 for the sake of a joke, and then the cast and Hasselhoff released a music video featuring the cast and an original song sung by Hasselhoff.
At the moment Disney has been dead silent regarding the issue, but there have been plenty of rumors being thrown around. Some are saying that Disney won't do it, other rumors suggest they could be looking into it, but it's hard to say. The petition to reinstate the director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is rapidly approaching 370,000 signatures.
