Don Hertzfeldt's Antarctica Moves Forward
Don Hertzfeldt, the writer and director of multiple award-winning animated shorts, has hooked up with Snoot Entertainment for his latest animated film Antarctica. Hertzfeldt is debuting his latest short, World of Tomorrow, opening night of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. This is his seventh film in the competition, more than any other film maker. His film Everything Will Be Okay won the 2007 Jury Award for Short Filmmaking. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his film Rejected.
"ANTARCTICA is an unusual project that's been turning around in my head for a very long time, uncertain how it would get made, and I'm excited to actually have the chance now to take the plunge with Keith, Jess, and their brave team. After twenty years of animating alone, this will also mark the first time I'll have the opportunity to work with a talented team of animators, and I'm looking forward to being able to walk into a room of hard-working artists every day and telling them that everything they're doing is wrong," said Hertzfeldt.
Snoot Entertainment is the company behind You're Next, The Guest and Charlie Kaufman's upcoming animated film Anomalisa.
And here is the movie Rejected along with Hertzfeldt's commentary. Some of his other short films are available on his youtube page.
