Doug Liman Talks About Turning Comic Book Movies On Their Head With Justice League Dark
Justice League Dark has been in the works for a while now, after it initially being in the hands of Guillermo Del Toro. Sadly, he had to leave the project, but the very capable Doug Liman has stepped into the space.
The director was out doing interviews recently, and when speaking to IGN he talked a little bit about the approach he is bringing to the film, and it seems it won't be very conventional.
Yeah, I mean first of all, I love those characters, and I love Warner Bros., and I love [producer] Scott Rudin, and it's — and you know, I get asked to come in and do things that are "unconventional." If people want conventional, they don't come to me. It's why doing Invisible was like right up my alley — because how can you be conventional when there aren't even conventions that exist? And so you know when Warner Bros. wants to sort of turn the comic book genre on its head, they call me.
New voicces and tones in the super hero genre could go a long way to stopping fatigue setting in. I hope with Justice League Dark, Warner Brothers give Liman enough rope to do something really unique, and hopefully, spooky.
