Fight Like A Girl In This New 'Atomic Blonde' Featurette
We've got a new featurette for Atomic Blonde and this one is going over the fight choreography. We learn a bit about how star Charlize Theron is a lot like Tom Cruise in that she is more than capable of doing her own stunts. In the featurette we get to see Theron along with director David Leitch and stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave as they talk about putting together realistic fight scenes for a woman to pull off.
They taklk about how they were able to do more long shots and less cuts with Theron because of her skill level and fighting abilities. The less cuts in an action scene the better and the movie that people comparing Atomic Blonde to is John Wick. These fight movies are awesome looking but it's also obvious that Lorraine (Theron) is getting the absolute crap kicked out of her but she pushes through.
"The stunt guys took so many hits," Theron said. "I had to buy a lot of alcohol to be forgiven but there were no injuries. There was absolutely nothing or so they told me. So, I don't know, maybe they went home and cried."
They talked about adapting the fighting for a woman would fight so shouldn't break every bone in her fist such as using the environment, using two fists instead of one, and multiple shot and powerful punches. It's great to watch and it really gives you the impression that Theron and the character she is playing could break you over her knee. It all looks so well done.
