Social Media Watch: Haley Bennett Rumored For Gotham City Sirens Catwoman Due To New Haircut

Legendary Hollywood gossip columnist Hedda Hopper once said, "Hollywood gossip is 1% investigation, and 99% carefully monitoring the social media feeds of actors in case they post a photo of a popular superhero." Hopper's astute observation about the entertainment media is made all the more prescient by the fact that Hopper died in 1966, before social media was invented. But she was absolutely correct.

The latest Hollywood casting rumor making the rounds claims that Haley Bennett will play Catwoman in the upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff, Gotham City Sirens. The rumor, of course, is based on Bennett's recent social media postings. Last week, Bennett posted the following image of Catwoman on her instagram page:

That alone would surely be worth some flimsy clickbait articles, but Bennett really sealed the deal with a second post, showing that she now has the signature pixie style haircut of Catwoman's alter-ego, Selina Kyle:

Another well-known fact about Catwoman is that she never takes her own bathroom selfies, and instead has bald men take them from the doorway of her bathroom. So it's basically a done deal, unless you count the fact that Gotham City Sirens isn't, as far as we know, in production yet and hasn't announced any cast members. But as a counterpoint, we ask you: what other reason could Bennett possibly have for getting a haircut and posting a photo of it on social media?
