Is Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Coming To Broadway?
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the West End play written by Jack Thorne (with J.K. Rowling contributing to the story), may be making its way to Broadway in 2018, according to a report from the official Harry Potter website, Pottermore. Producers are in "final stages" of talks with Ambassador Theatre Group to initiate "a huge multi-million-dollar transformation of the New York's Lyric Theatre" for the show. The theater will be remodeled from a 1900 seat venue to a more intimate 1500 auditorium for Cursed Child, with designer Christine and our director John Tiffany personally overseeing the redesign of the theater specifically for the play.
According to producer Sonia Friedman, "John is going to be crucial and very, very involved with Christine and the rest of the design team on the look, feel, aesthetic and overall feel of the theatre. Jack can't wait to see it, and Jo is fully, fully supportive of the whole venture. Our three Js are as great as ever."
No other details about the Broadway production are available at this time.
