This is exactly what we received with the recent horror film It's A Wonderful Knife, a campy twist on a Christmas classic. And in all honesty, there are plenty of unexpected moments to unpack along the way!
It's A Wonderful Knife Star Enjoyed the Film's Final Twist
When addressing the film's surprise final act reveal, star Joel McHale shared his response to the film's ability to integrate twists and turns with Screen Rant, noting, "Yeah, spoilers, so turn it off, or turn it down. When I read that, it was a nice [twist]. I mean, that's the power of Michael Kennedy and the writing of Michael Kennedy, which has some nice twists and turns, and I think they're unexpected. If the script is good, you're in good hands because then only the actors and the director can screw it up. Then, I feel like the script told the story really well and followed the — I don't want to say parody, you know, but followed the mechanism of It's a Wonderful Life."
The actor then adds, "So, with that reveal, hey, it's crazy and wonderful, and it's kind of a wild little movie. With the rise of horror and comedy and holidays coming together, and there being a lot of them, I think it just is this new avenue — well, not new, because Silent Night Deadly Night. But I think with this genre, it's going to only grow. Yeah, so I was very happy when I saw that I got revealed."
