"Killing Eve" Star Fiona Shaw Signs on to "Enola Holmes"
Legendary Pictures' upcoming film adaptation of The Enola Holmes Mysteries is picking up steam, and the casting announcements are really starting to get me excited about this (potential) series of movies.
The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that the exceptionally talented Fiona Shaw will be joining the cast of Enola Holmes, alongside the already signed Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter. Now, just get me Michael Sheen as Mycroft Holmes, and I will scream for a week in excitement. (no, Sheen has not been cast. I just really want Sheen in all the things.)
Brown will be playing Enola Holmes, who is the younger sister to Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. Cavill will be playing Sherlock, and Mycroft has yet to be cast. Information on Shaw's character have not been released yet.
Fiona Shaw just won a BAFTA for her phenomenal work on the BBC America series, Killing Eve. She plays the potentially (probably) duplicitous director of Eve Polastri's (Sandra Oh) MI6 task force, which has been hunting a particularly clever assassin. Shaw plays Caroline with all the swagger of one of Don Draper's contemporaries on Mad Men, and she's just fantastic to watch.
Sure, she was Mrs. Dursley in the Harry Potter movies, too. But those don't even hint at what she's capable of. She will be starring in the upcoming LGBTQ period drama Ammonite opposite Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan.

When Enola Holmes, sister to the detective Sherlock Holmes, discovers her mother has disappeared, she quickly embarks on a journey to London in search of her. But nothing can prepare her for what awaits. Because when she arrives, she finds herself involved in the kidnapping of a young marquess, fleeing murderous villains, and trying to elude her shrewd older brothers—all while attempting to piece together clues to her mother's strange disappearance. Amid all the mayhem, will Enola be able to decode the necessary clues and find her mother?
