Kyle Chandler Joins The Cast Of Damien Chazelle's 'First Man'

Kyle Chandler is going to the moon. According to Deadline, the actor has joined La La Land director Damien Chazelle in his next movie, First Man. Chandler will play Deke Slayton, a WWII flyer, aeronautical engineer and test pilot who was selected as one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts and became NASA's first Chief of the Astronaut Office. Ryan Gosling has been cast as Neil Armstrong.

From Deadline:

"The film, a co-production between Universal and Amblin Entertainment, is based on the James R. Hansen book, adapted by Spotlight Oscar winner Josh Singer, with Temple Hill's Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen producing with Chazelle and Gosling. Isaac Klausner is exec producer on the film."

First Man has a release date of October 12th, 2018. Chandler is currently filming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, stars in the third season of Bloodline on Netflix, and will be seen in Game Night.
