Low Winter Sun On DVD In A Month – But Only In The UK Where Few Have Heard Of It
Low Winter Sun is the AMC adaptation of the Channel 4 British two part crime thriller mini-series of the same name from seven years ago. It also stars Mark Strong in the lead role, though has switched from Edinburgh to Detroit. It started in August and has been trying to capture the Breaking Bad audience without much luck, despite relatively decent reviews.
It's been sold into the UK where it has run as a little-watched show on the little-watched Fox UK cable channel, running a week after the US showing in the Walking Dead slot – which it will soon have to vacate.
But now the AMC version being made available in the UK on DVD and Blu Ray at the end of the month, months ahead of its US DVD release date and only a couple of weeks after the final episode of the first season airs in the US.
Even though pretty much no one in the UK has heard of it – or if they have, only the dimly remembered version from 2006. Which is still available on DVD in certain places.
Television. It's a funny thing.
