Mark Hamill Regrets Criticizing Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Calls It "All-Time Great" Movie
As the backlash against Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to follow its box office dominance, disgruntled fans have been using clips of star Mark Hamill discussing his difficulties coming to terms with the changes to Luke Skywalker since Return of the Jedi as evidence that Hamill is against the Star Wars movie, even though anyone reading or watching the quotes honestly without a predetermined agenda could see that he was describing his initial reaction to the role, not to the finished product, which he's repeatedly complimented.
However, a certain segment of angry Star Wars fans has latched onto them, so Hamill took to Twitter to set the record straight once and for all:
"I regret voicing my doubts & insecurities in public," Hamill tweeted. "Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private."
"All I wanted was to make good [sic] movie," Hamill continued. Tweets are so long now that you can break them up into multiple quotes. "I got more than that. [Rian Johnson] made an all-time GREAT one!"
"#HumbledHamill," Hamill continued.
So will this put the "Mark Hamill hates The Last Jedi" myth to rest? Probably not. When you've got a good conspiracy theory going, any evidence disproving the theory can actually be evidence proving it, provided you believe everybody is in on it. "Disney sent someone to make you take back your statements," one reply has already suggested. They're probably paying us to write this article, multiple commenters have suggested in our past articles on the subject.
In any case, Hamill pinned the tweet to make sure it's the first thing people see when visiting his page. Not that it's likely to make any difference.
