Mr. Wednesday And Shadow On The Road To Czernobog
American Gods premiered last night in a stunningly beautiful and harsh episode that introduced us to Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) and Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). The episode stayed relatively faithful to the source material, with only a few variations and modernizations. But I'm coming from the place of someone who has read the book and knows the story. Will the visually rich and bizarre series click with new viewers is still to be determined.
In the next episode we see the after math of Shadow's meeting with Technical Boy (Bruce Langley), the return of Laura (Emily Browning) in some fashion and the introduction of Czernobog (Peter Stormare) as Shadow and Mr. Wednesday go to Chicago.
American Gods is adapted from the novel by Neil Gaiman. It's being lead by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) with the first episode directed by David Slade (30 Days of Night). New episodes air Sunday night on Starz.
