Oscar-Studded 'Little Women' Adaptation Lands Greta Gerwig to Direct
Little Women is an enduring literary classic, and that means it'll be adapted 'til the end of time. This newest reported version of Louisa May Alcott's March family novel is coming from Sony's Columbia Pictures and will have Oscar-nominated writer-director Greta Gerwig at the helm.
Variety reports that early talks include a veritable universe of stars including Meryl Streep and Emma Stone, as well as previous Lady Bird cast members Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet.
The outlet goes on to say that Gerwig was originally brought on to rewrite an existing draft of the film, but has "amped up production" in an effort to entice the filmmaker to sign on in the directorial position.
Not much more is known about the new version yet, other than Sony's Amy Pascal is on board to produce, as well as Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord. Overseeing the picture on the studio side is Andrea Giannetti.
