Ridley Scott's Napoleon Arrives On PVOD Tomorrow
Ridley Scott's historical epic Napoleon arrives on PVOD tomorrow. This is the film's theatrical cut and not the reportedly 4-hour director's cut.
Article Summary
- Ridley Scott's Napoleon hits PVOD tomorrow with Joaquin Phoenix leading.
- The film's theatrical cut, not the 4-hour director's cut, will be available.
- Napoleon garnered $200M but missed awards buzz, immortalized in memes instead.
- The epic's PVOD release offers a pause-friendly viewing of the 2.5-hour saga.
Apple went into the awards season likely confident they were hitting the awards season from both angles with Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon. While the former is getting some awards consideration, said consideration seems to start and end with Lily Gladstone. As for Napeolon, while it brought it an all-right $200 million at the worldwide box office, it has been completely forgotten in the awards season, with some line deliveries from star Joaquin Phoenix being meme-worthy and not much else. We know that Napoleon will make it onto AppleTV+ eventually, but that has not been revealed. However, if you don't feel like waiting, it has been revealed that the film will arrive on PVOD starting tomorrow.
It should be noted that this is the theatrical version of Napoleon and not the reported four-hour director's cut that director Ridley Scott will have released sometime in the future. That being said, the theatrical version of Napoleon is plenty long as it is, over two and a half hours, and you feel every minute of those, so maybe having the ability to pause will benefit people who were on the fence about this movie.
