[RUMOR] Sony is Considering More Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Spin-Offs
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is not only one of the best superhero movies but it's up there as one of the best movies of all time. It's a beautiful and compelling work of art where you could any frame from that movie on your wall. It's rare that a movie sweeps the award season yet Into the Spider-Verse managed to pull it off taking home the Academy Award for Best Animated Picture. Sony knew what they had before the movie was released because back in November they announced not only a sequel but a spin-off.
The sequel will continue the story of Miles Morales with Joaquim Dos Santosdirected and Dave Callaham writing. The spin-off, which will reportedly focus on Gwen Stacey, Cindy Moon aka Silk, Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman, will be directed by Lauren Montgomery and Bek Smith writing. Animated projects take a long time to make so there aren't even guesses as to when we'll see either of these movies.
It isn't that surprising, to be honest, about this latest rumor. According to Discussing Film Sony are considering greenlighting more spin-off movies. That isn't that surprising considering the commercial and critical acclaim. However, there doesn't appear to be anything set in stone yet, at least for now, Sony is focused on the Spider-Women spin-off and the sequel.
Summary: Spider-Man crosses parallel dimensions and teams up with the Spider-Men of those dimensions to stop a threat to all reality.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, stars Shameik Moore, Liev Schreiber, Lily Tomlin, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Luna Lauren Velez, and Hailee Steinfeld. It will be out on digital now and Blu-ray/DVD March 19th.
