Article Summary
- Searchlight unveils the Suncoast trailer, blending coming-of-age drama with themes of loss.
- Nico Parker and Woody Harrelson charm in the emotionally potent Suncoast preview.
- Suncoast slated to touch hearts and provoke tears as it premieres on Hulu, February 9th.
- The film's direct-to-streaming release raises questions about its potential impact.
Searchlight is heading into the awards season with quite a lot of momentum behind them with Poor Things. However, while this studio is becoming more well-known for its artsy films, plenty are just normal films with excellent casts that aren't blockbusters. Unfortunately, those films for Searchlight and sometimes 20th Century Studios sometimes end up on Hulu instead of getting a theatrical release. However, you need new content to keep people subscribed and films that people would watch if they are browsing on a service they already have. Suncoast looks like it could be a really sweet little movie that has the potential to leave you a sobbing mess on the floor.
We got the first trailer, poster, and image from the new film featuring a cute exchange between Nico Parker and Woody Harrelson's characters. This looks pretty classic coming-of-age with the twist that, for some teenagers, they have to come of age while also experiencing loss, hence leaving you a sobbing mess on the floor. It's unclear whether or not Suncoast will be any good, something that is direct to streaming sometimes fails to make any sort of impact both critically and with the public, but we'll have to see when it comes out early next month.

Suncoast, written and directed by Laura Chinn, stars Laura Linney, Nico Parker, Ella Anderson, Daniella Taylor, Amarr, Ariel Martin, and Woody Harrelson. It will stream to Hulu on February 9, 2024.
