Thor: Ragnarok Director Is Trying To Ignore Previous Thor Films
Taika Waititi is a very left field choice to direct a new Marvel movies considering his quirky and funny backcatalogue of work. Him taking up Thor is bound to leave a new impression that the other two movies didn't have, and that is pretty exciting.
It seems that Thor: Ragnarok might indeed be quite different too, as the director 9s actively trying to ignore the two previous films. Speaking during a Reddit AMA, the director said:
I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films.
Before adding later on:
I honestly know NOTHING outside of what I'm doing. I'm trying to ignore the rest of the universe and just make my own awesome movie.
He even added that he hadn't seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Jeez. I better see Winter Soldier… no joke.
And you know, as long as Waititi is making his own movie, and Marvel is doing a little overseeing to make sure everything lines up, then that all sounds swell to me. A Waititi branded Marvel film where he is out doing his own thing should be really fun.
