You've Got A Dystopian Society With Children In Death Matches? Let's Make A Theme Park!
Going to borrow from Wikipedia here:
A dystopia society set in "Panem", a country consisting of the wealthy Capitol and twelve districts in varying states of poverty. Every year, children are chosen to participate in a compulsory annual televised death match called The Hunger Games.
This is what Lionsgate CEO, Jon Feltheimer, thinks will make a good theme park. Following the success of the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando, Lionsgate is now focused on opening a theme part dedicated to The Hunger Games according to the ibtimes.
"We're deep in conversations with prospective partners on four continents to explore theme park attractions and other location-based entertainment opportunities," Feltheimer said during the company's 2015 first-quarter earnings conference call.
Besides the theme park, there will be a Hunger Games traveling museum debuting next summer ahead of the release of the franchise's final installment The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 in November 2015.
The franchise has grossed $832.6 million worldwide since its 2012. Catching Fire, released last November made $161.1 million in its debut weekend. The third installment, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, premieres in theaters Nov. 21.
