Happy! Season 2: Syfy Renews Morrison, Robertson Adaptation

With the show's first season finale a little more than 48 hours away comes word that Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni) and Blue's (Ritchie Coster) psychotic interrogator extraordinaire Smoothie (Patrick Fischler) are going to have some more time to sit (…carefully…) and talk about that scene from last week's episode. Syfy is giving an official "thumbs up" for a second season of Happy!, their series adaptation of writer Grant Morrison and artist Darick Robertson's graphic novel limited series.

Happy! s01e08 'I Am The Future': With Christmas approaching, Sax and Happy are locked in a climatic confrontation to rescue Hailey from Very Bad Santa's lair; Merry sets out to save Amanda from a far more powerful foe.

Happy! has proven to be a strong series for Syfy, both with real-time and delayed viewing ratings. For example, the series premiere ('Saint Nick') delivered 1.708 million viewers (total viewers) and 779,000 adults 18-49; and was the top ranked basic cable new original scripted series in the fourth quarter of 2017 in the key adults 18-34 demo with 271,000 viewers. Happy! also made a serious impact on social media, drawing more than 212 million impressions on Twitter alone.

Happy! is based on New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson's graphic novel of the same name. The series follows Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Patton Oswalt).

Happy! stars Christoper Meloni (Law & Order: SVU), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille), Joseph Reitman (Money Monster), Lili Mirojnick (Friends With Benefits), Patrick Fischler (Twin Peaks: The Return), Ritchie Coster  (True Detective) and Zabryna Guevara (Gotham).
