SDCC '15: When JJ Abrams Takes You To A Free Star Wars Concert
By Jeremy Konrad
At the end of the Lucasfilm panel today, Chris Hardwick and JJ Abrams sprung a huge surprise on not only all of us, but on the entire city of San Diego as he brought 7000+ of his closest friends with him over to a private greatest hits concert of Star Wars music put on by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

As we walked over to the concert, people were buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Nobody knew what was happening for sure, rumors were running rampant; would John Williams be there? Is the cast going to mingle with everyone? Are we really getting an armed escort over to the concert? (we did). Once we got there, everyone got a free lightsaber and were herded into the concert venue.
Before the music began, Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams introduced the entire cast of The Force Awakens, including hobbling out with a lightsaber cane. After taking some selfies with the lightsaber waving crowd, it was time for the music to begin.
The band played a multitude of selec
tions from the most iconic film music of all-time, including a couple of my personal favorites from Leia's Theme to The Imperial March, up to the fireworks-laden finale with the MainTitle/End Credits combo, sending all of us lucky Star Wars fans home with a smile on our face and a story to tell for the rest of our lives. What an incredible way to end Star Wars day at SDCC, and what an incredible time it is to be a Star Wars fan.
May The Force Be With You, Always.
