AEW Goes for Broke on Next Week's Episode of AEW Dark
In yet another sign that the Pandemic Era of wrestling will soon be drawing to a close, All Elite Wrestling has announced the match lineup for next week's episode of AEW Dark, and to say it's a stacked card would be an understatement. Nine matches have been announced for the show, which airs on YouTube on Tuesday nights. It looks like AEW is cleaning-house on taped content as The State of Florida reopens.
Here's the lineup of matches AEW has announced for Dark next Tuesday. Deathmatch legend Luther will take on Jimmy Havok. Jon Cruz will battle The Dark Order's #10. Shawn Dean will fight Colt Cabana. Lee Johnson and Musa will take on Private Party in tag team action. Jason Cade will face off against Orange Cassidy. Skyler Moore will fight Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.. Alan Angels, coming off an impressive showing against Kenny Omega, will fight Rey Fenix. Dani Jordyn will take on Kris Statlander. And finally, Mike Reed and Ryan Rembrandt will face off against Jurassic Express.
AEW Returns to Some Kind of Normalcy
So what's going on here? Partially, it seems likely that AEW is dumping some of the leftover matches they filmed in Georgia. Reports at the beginning of April said that AEW had filmed enough content for several months of shows if needed, in case the pandemic shutdown was going to last a long time. But with AEW returning to live action this past Wednesday, not only is that taped content unnecessary to hold onto, but it will quickly feel outdated as well.
However, there are also names on that list that were not present at the Georgia tapings. It's unknown if these matches come from the Jacksonville tapings AEW completed just before moving to Georgia, or if some of those matches have been filmed since AEW returned to Jacksonville this week. Either way, we can view this as a sign that AEW is looking forward to the future, and, best of all, we're going to get a massive episode of AEW Dark this week.
