Amazon Studios is Talking About Saving 'Lucifer'
In an interview with Deadline, the new head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, talked about the possibility of them picking up the recently cancelled Warner Bros. TV series Lucifer. There has been a big push to find a new home for series based on the Vertigo/DC Comic, with a huge reaction from fans trying to make it happen. Amazon has been on of their big targets with the studio having swooped up another recently cancelled series, The Expanse.
This is what Salke said in an interview held last Thursday:
"We were talking about Lucifer. I know that international, especially the UK group, was really bullish on that show, I haven't checked in on that today (Thursday), but I heard conversations were ongoing on that yesterday."
There is a bit of a ticking clock right now as we learned from star Lauren German just what might be the drop-dead date for the series to continue. She was at the OZ Comic-Con in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend and told fans that everyone was under contract until June 16th. This has kept any of the actors from auditioning for other series, but on that date, all of their contracts are released. That would make a pickup by another network, studio or streaming service highly unlikely as they would have to renegotiate with the entire cast.
So #SaveLucifer fans: you might want to continue making noise… in Amazon Studios' direction for the next few days.
