Audible Originals Summer: Kevin Bacon, Yvette Nicole Brown and More
With summer now only days away, Audible is boosting its original and exclusive programming line-up with four new scripted audio series with an impressive line-up of familiar faces that includes Carrie Coon, Christian Slater, Kevin Bacon, Yvette Nicole Brown, and more. Here's a look at what your earholes have coming to them: period drama Phreaks, novella Yard Work, dark comedy Eat Sh*t Kenny Daniels, and comedy Vroom Vroom.
"Phreaks": Written by Matt Derby (Sandra), the 10-part scripted original focuses on a group of fledgling phone hackers in the '70s who form the first virtual community. The series' voice cast includes Slater, Coon, Ben McKenzie, and Justice Smith; with Bree Klauser (See) starring as Emma Gable, a blind teen who discovers the underground Phreak culture while exploring Bell Telephone's network.
"Yard Work": Written by David Koepp and starring Bacon, Yard Work follows an elderly judge still mourning his wife's death who decides to live out his final years at the couple's old lake house. But his life is threatened when an aggressive vine begins to take over the house, and his body.
"Eat Sh*t Kenny Daniels": Created by Tony Wilson, Luke Kelly-Clyne, and Susanna Wolff, the audio original stars Alicia Silverstone as an amateur podcast host who investigates an unexamined moment from her past. But what was once a quest for light-hearted revenge against her middle school tormentor has now become a murder mystery that unravels her whole life. Produced by Big Breakfast, the project is written by Wilson, Kelly-Clyne, Wolff, Zach Broussard, and Kerry McGuire; with a voice cast that includes Bobby Moynihan, Zac Oyama, Mike Trapp, Owen Robinson, and more.
"Vroom Vroom": Created by writer Josh Koenigsberg (High Fidelity) and starring Andy Richter and Brown, the project focuses on the workers at a used Fjord dealership in upstate New York who band together to keep the business alive after a rival looks to put them out of business. Produced by Studio71, Vroom Vroom also stars John DiMaggio, Rick Gonzalez, Lucy DeVito, Mic Daily, and Azhar Khan.
