Bob's Burgers Season 13 Ep.10 Review: The Power Of Showing Up

In the most recent episode, FOX's Bob's Burgers gave us a wholesome look at the Belchers during a night of holiday chaos and extracurricular activities. Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) try to attend all three kids' holiday performances at the same time in "The Plight Before Christmas." Warning: Some spoilers may be waiting ahead for you, so make sure to watch the episode first and then come back if you don't want anything revealed to you. Otherwise, see you on the other side of this image break…

Bob's Burgers made me cry again this week, and I'm not mad at them for it. Louise (Kristen Schaal) is such a relatable character in this episode. Her initial refusal to let her family in on something of importance to her was very indicative of how she interacts with the good or bad that arrives in her life. It was a fantastic and important moment of character development and understanding how each little detail mattered in a quick episode. Tina (Dan Mintz) has grown just as much as Louise has this season. Like us fellow neurodivergent individuals, Tina can often pick up on the little things from loved ones that others can miss. There was a deep understanding of this in the writing and editing for this episode.

Bob's Burgers makes a small yet vital message crystal clear to audiences…there's a lot of love in simply showing up for those we care about. It doesn't have to be in person to make the same impact. That's why this episode mattered so much. It wasn't Louise's parents brushing anything of hers off to the side; it was the often torturous results of scheduling conflicts and the realistic troubles of how truly present a parent can be with multiple children. There's so much drama and fear of missing out on Linda's end of things, and combined with Bob's bloody knees as he ran to the wrong library, it shows clear signs of the Belcher parents showing up even if not being at the actual event.

There is an evident love between the Belcher siblings in Bob's Burgers. Witnessing Tina show up and push her way through the small crowd at the library to watch Louise recite her poem was such an impactful moment in the history of this series. It was truly an episode filled to the brim with the holiday spirit and made some great loving memories fans will surely have for a lifetime.
