Cody Rhodes Blames Butthurt WWE Fans for AEW Dysfunction Rumors

Cody Rhodes knows exactly who to blame for those rumors floating around that he and fellow AEW EVPs The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are no longer on speaking terms: WWE fans butthurt that NXT lost the Wednesday Night Wars to AEW Dynamite. Rhodes addressed the rumors during a media conference call promoting this weekend's AEW Double or Nothing PPV.

Sorry, butthurt WWE fans! Cody Rhodes isn't crying over his relationship with fellow AEW EVPs the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega because they're totally fine.

"Well, when I heard that that story was floating around, it is one of the things I chalked up as: we've been very successful, AEW, and with NXT losing the Wednesday Night Wars, that created a lot of anger," said Rhodes. "And I understand there's a lot of hardcore NXT and WWE fans out there. And that's why those stories, stories like that, don't surprise me. I think people need to cling to something."

"And as sexy as that story is, I talk to Matt and Nick every day," Rhodes continued. "I talk to Kenny very often. I support their projects fully. They've been supportive of all my projects, and we would not be able to put this show on the air. Tony's the man, and Tony's the boss, but we would not be able to put this show on the air if the four of us were not functioning as one team. So we really, unfortunately, it's not very sexy to say, but there's no truth to that. Again, we're one team. And now with us expanding on the TBS, we will remain one team."

So there you have it. Bleeding Cool's resident butthurt WWE fan, Chad McMahon, could not be reached for comment at press time.

A prophecy claims that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Unfortunately, nobody can tell when the comics industry has reached its "darkest days" because it somehow keeps finding new lows to sink to. No matter! Jude Terror stands vigilant, bringing the snarkiest of comic book and pro wrestling clickbait to the undeserving readers of Bleeding Cool.
