Critical Role's New Show Critter Hug Will Launch On May 4th
This week, Critical Role finally announced the launch date of their new show Critter Hug as it will debut on May 4th, 2020 at 10am PDT. The show was actually announced a few weeks ago on their Twitch channel, but then COVID-19 happened and put the world on hold, and with it went many of the company's plans. In fact, they haven't aired any new live programming since going on a self-quarantine hiatus back in mid-March. But now it looks like the company is ready to start running the show, which appears to be a pre-recorded talk show instead of a live broadcast, which will run the first Monday of every month starting in May. Here's a quick synopsis of what the show will be.
Hosted by Mica Burton and Matthew Mercer, Critter Hug is a show celebrating just a few of the hardworking folks that bring joy to the tabletop industry. It'll highlight local game shops across the country, new games, people of note in the industry and more. You might find your new favorite RPG, another cool friendly local game store, or meet brand new creatives that are putting a fresh spin on minis, maps, and gaming gear.
The show is a pretty cool concept that feels like a perfect fit for everything the cast and crew are already making out of their production company. Considering the show will be monthly and will be highlighting stuff across the board for tabletop gaming, we are a little curious about what the filming schedule will be like to keep the show topical. But if their pre-recorded content like Undeadwood and Mini Prime Time With Will Friedle is any indication as to what they can do, the show is bound to be an instant hit on the channel.
